Memorial ID 156650663 According to family collections I have gathered, Elizabeth Burleson was born in 1718 in Burke County,Virginia which was changed to Buncombes County, N.C. Apparently, these counties changed from Virginia to North Carolina to now located in Tennessee.
Per marriage record, Elizabeth married Daniel Shipman in 1740 in Brunswick, Virginia. This county is now known as Lunenburg County, Virginia.
They had 9 children:
Sarah (born est. 1740) Edward (born 1742) Jacob born 1745/46 in Virginia-died 1794/95 in N.C. Anna (born 1746 in Virginia) Daniel (born 1747 in N.C.-died 1810 in N.C.) Lucretia (born 1749 in N.C.) Phoebe (born 1752 in N.C.) Rebecca (born 1754 in N.C.) Mary (born 1754 in N.C.)
Daniel (born 1715) immigrated to New Jersey sometime in the 1730's from Germany via Wales. Family stayed in Wales for a few years before sailing to America. His last name in Germany was Schiffmann. The Schiffmann family is said to have lived about 18 miles SE of Hamburg, Germany on the Elbe River. After landing in New Jersey, Daniel moved from New Jersey to Pennsylvania and finally settling in Virginia for a time. In 1770 Daniel was granted land in North Carolina. In 1770 Daniel was appointed Lieutenant of the Militia.
According to a paper trail Elizabeth apparently was married on 2 Feb 1739 to a James Davis.
