Her sister was Abigail, wife of President John Quincy Adams. She married #1 Rev. John Shaw. She married #2 Rev. Stephen Peabody on Dec. 8, 1795 in Atkinson, Rockingham Co., New Hampshire as his second wife.

tombstone inscription: "In memory of Mrs. Elizabeth Peabody. At her decease she was the wife of Rev. Stephen Peabody of this town. She died suddenly Apr 8, 1815 aged 65 years. She was eminent for strength of mind, the aquisition of literature. She lived not for her self but for the benefit of others and the honor of her Maker. The religion she possessed was exemplified in her life.
