Elizabeth Steptoe

Elizabeth Steptoe was the daughter of Anthony Steptoe. She is believed to have been born c.1679 in Lancaster County, Virginia. She died c.1741.

If Elizabeth was born in Virginia in 1679, she could not have been the daughter of Lucy Stephens Steptoe, first wife of Anthony Steptoe. Lucy died in 1676 in England. She must have been the daughter of Anthony's second wife, Patience.

Elizabeth is sometimes shown as Elizabeth Howard, daughter of Thomas and Patience Howard. Elizabeth Howard married William Wren and had four children. If this Elizabeth is the daughter of Thomas and Patience, and she was born in 1679, then we can place Thomas Howard's death as no earlier than 1679, and Patience's remarriage to Anthony Steptoe as no earlier than 1679.
