About Elizabeth Thomas
Not the same as Elizabeth Annable
Warning
In his treatment of Anthony Annable, Robert Charles Anderson in the Great Migration series adds this note:
- In his marriage index, Torrey identifies the wife of Alexander Kennedy/Canedy as Elizabeth Annable. This does not derive from any of the sources cited by Torrey, and is apparently a suggestion based on the fact that this couple named a child Annable in 1698 [ MD 1:209]. Despite this interesting name, the chronology makes such an identification unlikely.
Here is the original reference from Torrey:
- CANNEDY, Alexander & Elizabeth ANNABLE; by 1678; Plymouth {MD 1:208, 6:81; Plymouth (Davis) 166; Reg. 21:348}
Note none of these sources give any evidence that his wife's maiden name was Annable.
Biography with errors
Elizabeth was admitted and baptized at the First Church in 1688, and
was dismissed, along with others, on 27 October 1698. They probably
moved to Plympton. Alexander died by 1718 and his estate was not
divided until 1723. Elizabeth was living in Plympton on 25 June
1718, when she was married in Plymouth by Rev. Peter Thatcher to
David Thomas as his second wife.
