Elizabeth Bitfield (AKA Bidfield, Bydfield, Bittsfield) was born "say" 1624, probably at Wrington, Somersetshire, England.[1] She was probably a daughter of Samuel Bitfield and his 1st wife, of unknown name.[1] According to Plummer, "The wills of both Samuel and wife, Elizabeth, imply that Elizabeth was a second wife, and not the mother of his children."

Biography

Elizabeth Bitfield (AKA Bidfield, Bydfield, Bittsfield) was born "say" 1624, probably at Wrington, Somersetshire, England.[1] She was probably a daughter of Samuel Bitfield and his 1st wife, of unknown name.[1] According to Plummer, "The wills of both Samuel and wife, Elizabeth, imply that Elizabeth was a second wife, and not the mother of his children."[1]
Elizabeth's father, Samuel Bitfield, a cooper, immigrated to Massachusetts.[1] He may have settled briefly at Braintree and removed, by 24 February 1639/40, to Mount "Woollystone" (Wollaston) in that section of Boston, where he was granted, for five heads, some twenty acres of land.[1]
Elizabeth married twice.
She married 19 May 1645 at Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts, as her 1st, to William Stevens.[2] William died in 1653.[2]
She married as "Elizabeth Stevens" on March 3, 1653/4 at Newbury, as her 2nd, and as his 2nd, to William Titcomb.[3][2] William Titcomb had married 1st, by 1640 at Newbury, to Joanna Bartlett (who died in 1653).[2]
Her last daughter was born in 1666.
Elizabeth died 24 September 1676 at Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts.
