Elizabeth Tugwell

Children of William Tugwell and Elizabeth Tugwell (cousins) are:

• Lewen Tugwell, b. Abt. 1768, d. 1848, Salisbury.

It should be noted that both Lewen's father, William, and his uncle Stephen (also Elizabeth's father) were overseers for the Parish of Beverstone 1762-1767 [GRO P43 O] and William was a churchwarden.

William had several liaisons, and in 1768 was called to the Consistory court at Gloucester as a result of a bastard [Lewen] born to Elizabeth Tugwell, Singlewoman. see GRO GD5 B4/1/203. Complainant was Elizabeth's father, Stephen Tugwell. V 2/1]

In William's will he refers to "my natural Son Lewen Tugwell of Chitterne".

The identification of this William is confirmed by the siblings Lewin and Humphrey Tugwell and Mary Robins, nephews William and Walter Robins and nieces Jane, Charlotte and Maria Robins also mentioned.

He also mentions Susannah Aldridge "now living with me:"(1814) and her daughter Sarah Ann, a minor. Also Lewin's son William, a minor. see GRO 1571 T64.
