Biography

Elizabeth Reynolds Vincent was the daughter of John Reynolds of North Kingston, Rhode Island.[1][2] John Reynolds was the second husband of Jemima Vincent, Nicholas’ father William Vincent’s second wife. Thus, Nicholas married his step-sister.[2]

Elizabeth Reynolds, born in 1699 and died in 1791, age 93, married Nicholas Vincent in probably 1721.[2] Nicholas passed away in 1749.[1][2] The Wills of both Nicholas and Elizabeth are recorded in The descendants of Thomas Vincent of Amesbury, Wiltshire, England.[2]

Both sources, Wheeler and Thomas, give the family structure as follows: [1][2]

WILLIAM VINCENT, the emigrant ancestor, came to New England and married at Providence, R. I., Priscilla Carpenter, daughter of William and his wife, Elizabeth (Arnold) Carpenter, on May 31, 1670. William Vincent died in 1695.[1][2]

She was a daughter of Francis & his second wife Elizabeth Berry Reynolds. She was married to Nicholas Vincent in 1721 in Westerly, Washington Co., R.I. where they settled down & lived. The location of her burial is yet unknown. He husband, William Vincent, the emigrant ancestor, came to New England and married at Providence, RI, Priscilla Carpenter, daughter of William and his wife, Elizabeth (Arnold) Carpenter, on May 31, 1670. William Vincent died in 1695. Thomas and William Vincent remained in Providence, but Nicholas Vincent removed to Westerly, R. I. The three brothers were cordwainers. Nicholas Vincent. [3]

Notes

Elizabeth, wife of Nicolas Vincent may have been Elizabeth Reynolds, daughter of John Reynolds, or Elizabeth Dix, daughter of Leonard Dix. At one time she was believed to be the daughter of John or Robert John Reynolds. We could not find solid proof of this altho it is listed in others genealogy.[9]

As to the debate as who her mother was it listed Francis Reynolds & first wife having 4 children Francis, Peter,James,& Jabez. It listed Francis & second wife Elizabeth Berry Reynolds as haveing 4 children. Elizabeth (B: 1699) Mary, Susannah & Debrorah. Another listed Francis B: Oct 1662) married first Elizabeth Greene & second Elizabeth Berry...[10] Their daughter Elizabeth fits the time frame the best but you will have to draw your own conclusions on this until better proof is found.
