Among early colonial families it was customary to name the first born son after the father and the second born son after the paternal grandfather. If this rule of thumb was followed in the James Warren family, then James father was John Warren. A john Warren was in Charles City County, in Westover Parish where the Christian family lived, in June 1690. Mr. John Taylor sues him for "breach of trust". This John Warren may well have been James father. An Elizabeth Warren also was in Westover Parish in April 1694. Per Dr. Holland Warren
