William B. Whitworth was married Oct 4, 1835, to Elizabeth, daughter of Judge John Tomlinson and Elizabeth, his wife. She was a native of Rowan County, North Caroline, where she was born Oct 20, 1810. She died September 18, 1853, and is buried in Painter Cemetery, two and a half miles northeast of Middletown. The fruits of this union were six children, namely: Sarah Ann, deceased; Margaret, now the wife of Vincent Cummins; John W., Mary E., afterwards the wife of Abraham White, now deceased; Sanford; Jemima J., now the wife of Joseph Hurst.
