2. Thomas WINSLOW (Timothy) was born[2] on 1 Aug 1682 in Pasquotank County, North Carolina. He died[3] on 26 Nov 1745 in Perquimans County, North Carolina.
Thomas married[4] 1st Elisabeth CLARE daughter of Timothy CLARE and Mary BUNDY on 2 Nov 1704 in Perquimans County.
Elisabeth was born on 21 Feb 1685/6 in Perquimans.
She died before Jun 1734 in Perquimans County.
Elisabeth had a twin sister named Mary.
Thomas was bond to his future father-in-law and proved his freedom from Timothy Clare in 1702. I believe at that time he would have received 50 acres of land as a sort of payment for his indenture. Thomas m. 2nd Leah Pritlowe, widow of John Smith 7 Jun 1734 (itm) Quaker Records and they had a daughter, Sarah Winslow b.25 July 1735. On 5 Apr 1720 Thomas Winslowe received land patent for 400 acres on the N E Side of Perquimons (sic) river, Joining Timothy Clare and the Desert. Wit: C. Eden, Thos. Pollock, Wm. Reed,
Richd. Sanderson and Fras. Foster[5]. A deed executed on 10 Jan 1725, on record at the courthouse in Hertford, North Carolina, which conveyed land to Thomas White was signed by Thomas and Elizabeth with their marks, Thomas (T) Winslow and Elizabeth (E) Winslow. John Winslow, brother of Thomas, used the mark (J) for his name. They also lived near each other. Thomas left Negroes to his children in his will; he seems to have prospered.
On the back cover of the bible are listed other names, which are probably slaves, they are: Rose b.12 Feb 1764, Venus b.23 Mar 1766, John Winslow, John Griffin Sept(illegible), Dick Winslow b.16 Mar (covered by repair of binding), Jim b.25 Mar 1739, Dick b.16 Mar 174(torn), Peter b.13 Apr 1745.
Thomas and Elisabeth had the following children:
4 M i. Joseph WINSLOW was born on 31 Mar 1706 in Perquimans County, North Carolina.
He died about 1750 in Perquimans Joseph married[6] 22 Aug 1729 Pleasant Tomes, the daughter of Francis Toms and Margaret Lawrence (widow Bogue) at the house of Francis Tomes.
