Elize (26), a mother of a nine month old baby, was raped, and choked with wire, close to her smallholding in Rietfontein outside Pretoria. On 2nd March 2008. Her body was found in the bushes by Dion Muzenda while he and a friend were out collecting firewood.

  • Mitya Richard Rammutla (30), was arrested and appeared in the Pretoria High Court, Judge Lettie Molopa at the bench.
  • Police forensic expert Dr. Paul Lombard testified that the wire was twirled so tightly around her neck that it had cut into her neck. Besides being raped, she was also sodomised and there were scratch-marks on her body.
  • Rammutla admitted guilt on March 23 2009, on charges of rape and robbery with ‘extenuating circumstances’, – but denied the murder charge. He admits ‘being responsible for her death, but that he didn’t intend to kill her’.
