Ella J. Hoverson was born May 28, 1919, the daughter of Lawrence and Minnie (Everson) Hoverson, in Manvel, N.D. She moved with her family to Gilby, N.D., and later to Elkmount Township, Grand Forks County, Niagara, in 1922. She later lived with her grandparents near Manvel. She attended school in Niagara and Manvel. She married Elmer Kjemhus on Jan. 8, 1948, in Grand Forks. They moved to Niagara and farmed. They retired in 1974. They moved to Grand Forks in 1980. Elmer Kjemhus died Sept. 14, 1995. She became a resident of Valley Elder Care in Oct. 2, 1998. Ella J. Kjemhus, 79, Grand Forks, formerly of Niagara, N.D., died Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, in Valley Elder Care, Grand Forks. She is survived by daughters, Delores (Clifton) Crawford and Dianne (Gary) Torrey, both of Grand Forks; sons, Gary and Ronald, both of Grand Forks; sisters, Lois Olsen, Northwood, N.D., Leila Erickson, St. Paul, and Leola Sheesley and Bernice Machovsky, both of Mitchell, S.D.; and brothers, Victor, Strathcona, Minn., and Russell, Niagara, N.D.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Edna Nabben and Arlene Newhouse; and brothers, Arthur, Albert, Chester and Gilbert.
