About Ella Anschel Rapaport
According to various renowned genealogists, Ella Anshel was the spouse of Nakhman HaCohen Rappaport, and not Nakhman's father Simcha as shown here as of this writing (27 April 2023). This is the view espoused by Lewinstein, Landau, Buber, and Kahan, all of whom rely on a source which has now been lost, and Friedman, and Jacobi, who accept the view of the prior four. These six genealogists assert that David Katvan;s daughter from his spouse Taube b. Shach married Nakhman b. Simcha HaGadol. The only support for the proposition that a daughter of David Katvan married Simcha HaGadol himself rather than his son seems to come from a chart in Wunder's Meorei Galicia (Meorei Galitsyah: encyclopedia le-chachamei Galitsyah, Israel, Makhon le-hantsaḥat Yahadut Galitsyah, 1978, pp. 977-1023; NB: I am borrowing this citation from a co-researcher and have not checked its accuracy), for which no supporting authority is alleged or provided by Wunder. Therefore, this marriage between Katvan's daughter and Simcha HaGadol is contrary to the weight of the evidence and researchers should draw their own conclusions. (26 May 2023)
Following several merges the profile showed the following dates: birth in 1739 and death in 1805 (in Bonn). These dates seem to be not too accurate, if her father death year was 1698, before she was born.
