About Ella Vernon
GEDCOM Note
Ella is named after her mother Clara's sister, Ella Cook (Edison), who married Richard Edison, the son of Thomas Alva Edison.
Ella was a gifted musician. She played the violin. She is listed in the city directory of Henderson, KY of 1912 as “music teacher”. She often is pictured with her violin. There is a portrait in oil that Kirt and Hilda have that portrays her with a violin. She appeared to be a very kind person judging from a post card written to Radia Munn Bromley in 1907. There is a set of photographs of a picnic excursion that Ella took with some friends from Kentucky. One picture shows her with the violin surrounded by several people with guitars, all sitting before a picnic banquet on the ground. The 1910 census of Kentucky has this entry: 32 years old; born in Ohio; father born in Canada, mother born in Ohio; by trade a music teacher. Sheet 5B, page 5349; Ward 2; entry 19th April 1910; Disk 2, Enumeration 374.
