About Elleanor Kemp
There may be a confusion here:
This Eleanor may have been mother of Mary Jane Alden Nalle; not Rachel Kemp's mother despite her second marriage to a Richard Kemp
or died in 1737 in Middlesex, VA
daughter of Thomas Willis (born before 1625, died prior to 1670), born in England, arrived in VA before 1651
Thomas married Mary (born before 1633 in England and died 1684 in Middlesex, VA); they married 1651 in Middlesex, VA
Mary remarried Mathew Bentley
Thomas son of Richard Willis and Jane Henmarsh in England
The date of 24 May 1685 is Katherine Aldin's birth date — NOT Robert Aldin's death death.
There is no mention of his death in "The Parish Register of Christ Church Parish" or in "Middlesex Co., VA Wills & Inventories 1673-1812 and Other Court Papers."
What we do know, is that it was after 24 May 1685, and, apparently, before 03 Sep 1688, when "Ellenor Alding vs Henry Thacker", the father of her illegitimate child, Lettice Alding.
Baby Lettice was bound out to Marvel Moseley on 02 Jan 1692. A number of records on this court battle.
So, Robert Aldin is either deceased bef 24 May 1685, or they divorced, and there is no known record of either.
Eleanor (Willis) Aldin m (2) Richard Kemp bef 13 Nov 1693, as proven by this:
13 Nov 1693, Middlesex: Richard Kemp and Elenor Kemp his wife against Lettice, the daughter of the said Elenor Kemp. (Middlesex Co., VA Wills & Inv. 1673-1812 & Other Court Papers, Hopkins, p 204)
17 May 1716, Essex D&W Bk 14-556: Inventory of remainder of the Estate of Richard Kemp, decd., "and have set apart the dower of ELLENAR KEMP WIDOW OF THE SAID RICHARD. (Virginia Colonial Abstracts, II-72)
