Ellen "Elly" GOLDMANN/GEYER, née NEUSTÄDTER: b. 20 Sept 1885, Berlin? - d. 12 June 1926, Berlin

Significant biographical source:

"Überlebenstheater, der Schauspieler Reuss", Hilde Haider-Pregler, Verlag Holzhausen, Wien 1998. The already well-established actress - and wife of Emil Geyer, theatre director - Ellen NEUSTÄDTER (i.e. she retained her original family name for her profession), started an affair with the rather younger, upcoming actor Leo REUSS (b. as Leo Moritz Reis 30 March 1891, Dolnya - d. as Lionel ROYCE: 1 April 1946, Manila) and eventually left her husband for him. When the relationship was clearly ended by REUSS marrying the actress Agnes STRAUB and her own career was increasingly on the wane she suffered intense depression and, after a couple of futile attempts, finally succeeded in committing suicide in her Berlin flat on 12 June 1926.
