Diamond for Chalice: Mount Cavalry Remembered

The will of the late Ellen Elzey, who died February 23, makes the following distribution of her estate: To Rev. Robert H. Paine, rector of St. Paul's Mt. Cavalry Church, $500; to Sister Caroline, eldest daughter of the late Dr. Francis Donaldson, $500; to her nephew, Arnold Elzey Waters, $2000; to her nephew Levin L. Waters, Jr., $1000; to her niece, Mrs. William Boykin, $1000; to Arnold Elzey Howard, $100; to Arnold Elzey Waters, $1000, in trust for her niece, Nina McBlair; to Arnold Elzey Waters is left a diamond ring and $50 (the money is left for the purpose of having the diamond set in the chalice of Mt. Calvary Church); to a number of her relatives the testatrix bequeaths furniture, ornaments and pictures; to her servant, Harriet Ashby, $100,; to Mrs. William W. Donaldson, $1000; the balance of the estate is left to her nephew, Arnold Elzey Water, absolutely, who is named as the executor. The will is dated June 30, 1897. The testatrix died February 23, 1902. _____
