Ellen Hutchinson

HUTCHINSON James (Berhampore). James served with 86th Reg. for 21 yrs 5mths gained 2 good conduct badges. Discharged worn out. Height 5'6", brown/grey hair, hazel eyes, fresh complexion, a labourer of good character. He left Newcastle-on-Tyne, England, with his wife Eleanor STACKPOOL. His grant of land was at Papakura but they lived at Auckland until sent to Onehunga in 1868. Source: The Royal New Zealand Fencibles 1847-1852 (p. 147).

Ellen died 16 Feb 1894 buried 18 Feb 1894 Onehunga Catholic. Confirmed in cemetery records. We also have a burial there for a grandson James Harold Seymour Hutchison, son of Nicholas, buried 28 Feb 1896. Source: Garth Houltham (NZ Fencible Society).
