!BIOGRAPHY: Pittsburg County History, 1997; Pittsburg Co. Hist. and Gen. Soc. HOPAKINTUBBEE Ellis Wade born Jan 7, 1892, married Lillie Rose Taylor who was a Choctaw. Lillie was born Oct 10, 1895, "daughter of James Taylor, fullblood and Susan Carr, half blood. James Taylor's parents are Eahenubbee and Pistahoke both dead by 1898. Susan Carr's parents are John and Eliza Carr dead by 1898. Ethel married Ado Carter and she is now deceased.
Ellis and Lillie Rose Taylor Wade's children are Buster, Elmer, Myrtle, Jimmie, Agnes, AIta and Waynoka. They were born and raised in the Recyl Community, Latimer County and the house is still standing. Recyl had a post office, general store, one gas station and a griss mill run by Mr. Sumpter. They attended Recyl School and had church in the school building.
Ellis was a farmer and farmed 160 acres on both sides of Gaines Creek. He raised watermelons, corn and cotton. He sold the watermelons to help with the family needs. The children had to help on the farm with the work. He trained horses and took care of cows for other people.
When times were hard we didn't have money, coal oil was a nickle a gallon and Lillie would plat rags and put it in old grease or butter and put it in a little pan and light the end of the rags and we'd have it for our light.
Lillie used a basket to get the chaff out of corn. After she shelled the corn she would put the corn in the basket, toss the corn in the air, and the chaff and dust would fly out, the corn would fall back in the basket.
