Estrem, Elsie Northfield News May/1990 Elsie G. Estrem, 85, of Northfield, died Sunday, May 13,1990 at her home. She was born Sept.15,1904 to Joseph and Barbara (Zimbrick) Smith in Little Falls. She attended Nerstrand area schools and lived her entire life in the Dennison and Northfield area. On Sept. 22,1924, she married Helmer Estrem in Faribault. She and her husband farmed in Dennison until they moved to Northfield 24
years ago. Estrem was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Northfield and a member of the Rebecca Circle. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband who died in 1974; one son Helmer Jr.; one daughter Barbara Halverson; one grandson John Topp; two brothers and three sisters. Surviving her are two sons, Willard of Nerstrand and Edwin of Inver Grove Heights; four daughters, Elouise (Mrs. Mile) Quinnell of Northfield, Janet (Mrs. James) Topp
of Castle Rock, Lorraine (Mrs. Owen) Chavie of Inver Grove Heights and Bel (Mrs. Charles) Christopher of Mankato; 30 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren;
one sister Selma Pritchard and one sister-in-law Hazel Smith, both of
Northfield. Visitation was held Tuesday, May 15, at the Benson Funeral Home in
Northfield. Funeral services were to be held Wednesday, May 16, at St. Johns
Lutheran Church with Rev. Morris Wee and Rev. Leslie Svendsen officiating. Music was to be provided by John Ferguson, organist and Don McRae, soloist. Interment was to be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Northfield. Pallbearers were to be Scott Quinnell, Terry Quinnell, Warren Estrem, Mark Estrem, Allen Chavie,
Jeff Topp and Kenneth Halverson, all grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers were to be the rest of the grandchildren. Arrangements were made by the Benson Funeral Home.

Elsie G. Estrem, 85, of Northfield, died Sunday in her home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. John's Lutheran Church, Northfield. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today at the Benson Funeral Home, Northfield. She was born Sept. 15, 1904, at Little Falls, Minn., to Joseph and Barbara Zimbrick Smith. She married Helmer Estrem on Sept. 22, 1924. The couple farmed in Dennison until they moved to Northfield in 1966. She was a member St. John's Lutheran Church. Survivors include two sons, Willard of Nerstrand and Edwin of Inver Grove Heights; four daughters, Mrs. Milo (Elouise) Quinnell of Northfield, Mrs. Owen (Lorraine) Chavie of Inver Grove Heights, Mrs. Charles (Bel) Christopher of Mankato, and Mrs. James (Janet) Topp of Castle Rock; 30 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; one sister, Selma Pritchard of Northfield; and one sister-in-law, Hazel Smith of Northfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Helmer, in 1974; one son, Helmer Jr.; one daughter, Barbara Halverson; one grandson, John Topp; two brothers and two sisters.
