She appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at Kensington, London, England, as Daughter, single, age 24, born Paddington, London. She married Reginald Abraham Simmons Myer, son of Grenville David Myer and Rachel Matilda Simmons, on 31 October 1905 at New West End Synagogue, St Petersburgh Place, Bayswater, London, England; and their marriage was registered in the December quarter 1905 at Paddington Registration district. Their marriage was announcement in The Times of 2 November 1905 stating they were married by 'the Rev. S Singer, assisted by the Rev. Giffen'. According to a full report in The Jewish Chronicle of 3 November 1905 the Bride 'wore an elegant gown of white satin, with graceful court train, trimmed with old Spanish lace.
Hon Elsie Montagu was recorded as a Suffolk Painter. She was a 'Watercolour landscape artist and a member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1920-1925 and exhibited five works 1920-1921, mostly local views and a study of Kew Gardens, London from their home at Walber House, Walberswick, Suffolk.16' Google books contains the following reference: The Women's Who's who Page 291: 'Quarry Bank. Staffs. MYER, Elsie, do: Samuel Montague 1st Bare Swaythling. m: Reginald Myer. s: 2. d: 2. Me; of one of the 1st Women's Cricket Clubs. ...' Her daughter Shiela Conrad later recalled both her parents were 'extremely athletic' and her mother 'was reserve for England at hockey and she and Auntie Marnie belonged to one of the first hockey clubs.
She lived on 29 September 1939 at Paddington, London, England; where she appeared on the 1939 Register. She and Reginald Abraham Simmons Myer are recorded as First Class UK Incoming Passengers embarked on the Cavina of the shipping line Elders & Fyffes Ltd at Barbados and were listed as Retired and Housewife, with a proposed UK address of '30 Westbourne Tce, London, W8', previously residing in Barbados, arriving at Bristol, England, on 23 April 1953.20 Hon Elsie Montagu died on 26 July 1964 at 84 Princes House, Kensington Park Road, Kensington, London, England, at age 87; and her death was registered in the September quarter 1964 at Kensington Registration district. A notice was published in The Jewish Chronicle on 31 July 1964. She was cremated at Golders Green, London, England. She was the subject of an obituary in The Times saying she had died on Sunday and was the sixth daughter of the first Baron Swaythling and widow of Reginal Myer who had died in 1959 on 29 July 1964. Her estate was probated on 14 September 1964; and the 1964 National Probate Calendar records the Honourable Elsie Myer was 'of 84 Princes House Kensington Park Road Kensington London W.11 widow' and Probate was granted in London 'to Kenneth Grenville Montague Myer author and journalist and Monica Gertrude Grenville Archibald widow.
