Elva Emma Irvine

Mrs. Elva Montanye Irvine, age 90, of Nathan's Lane, Boone, died Sunday morning, October 17, 2010 at the Blowing Rock Davant Rehab and Extended Care Facility. Born Elva Emma Montanye on April 26, 1920 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of William Henry and Anna Beuhler Montanye. Elva was devoted to her family. She loved the Lord and read her Bible daily. An active and faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Boone, she volunteered as the church librarian and participated in the Presbyterian Women's Circle. Mrs. Irvine volunteered with Meals on Wheels and participated in the Senior Scholars program at ASU.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Andrew Calhoun Irvine; son, Robert Andrew Irvine of Philadelphia; daughter, Nancy Jane Coons and husband, Cliff, of Smithfield, Texas; and two grandchildren, Krista Jaclyn Coons of Jacksonville, Florida and Brett Andrew Coons of Lubbock, Texas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Frankland.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning, October 22, at 11 o'clock, at the First Presbyterian Church in Boone, officiated by Dr. Ron Bowie. The family will receive friends Friday morning from 10 until 11 o'clock, one hour prior to services, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to High Country health Care System/HOSPICE, 400 Shadowline Drive, Suite 100-B, Boone, NC 28607.
