Elwood Shroder Bucher

Elwood S. "Woody" Bucher, 79, of Hollywood Lane, Mansfield, died Tuesday afternoon January 29, 2002 in his home following a short illness.

He was born July 18, 1922 in Dayton to Walter N. and Helen (Shroder) Bucher, was graduated from Manchester (CT) High School in 1940 and earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Dayton in 1950.

Woody served in the US Army Air Force Unit 1503 from October 1942 to February 1946.

On July 1, 1944 he married E. B. "Bobbi" (Matheson) Bucher, she preceded him in death on January 12, 2000.

Woody and his wife owned and operated a Tupperware Franchise in the Mansfield area, and he retired in 1978 from Mansfield City Schools, teaching machine shop at Senior High School. Following his retirement, he worked in local machine shops as a tool and die maker.

An avid golfer, he was a long time member of Galion Country Club. He also loved fishing and growing roses.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Margo E. & Stuart Seely of Mansfield and Cynthia K. & Lonnie Lett of Waterwood, TX; two grandchildren Heather S. Whited of Columbus and Jennifer J. Wallace of Sandusky; two step grandchildren and their spouses Gary & Elizabeth Lett and Keri & Gary Hefner; two step great grandchildren Nolan and Madison Hefner; three sisters Jane Kaeck of St. Marys, Vivian Williamson of Muskegon, MI, and Phyllis Blair of Montague, MI.

A sister JoAnn Bryan preceded him in death.
