Emanuel Dees, the senior to this described line in America was probably born about 1675 in Scotland near the river, Dee. He migrated to America prior to 1700. I do not know the name of his wife, nor the date of their marriage. Emanuel sired 5 children, Emanuel ( which I call Jr.), William, John, James, and Daniel. The the junior Emanuel was the eldest of the siblings, all the children were born in the American Colonies. Emanuel Dees (the senior) was probably born about 1650, plus or minus a few years. Emanuel Dees, Sr. died in the Isle of Wight county, Virginia in 1722 at the age of 47. Emanuel Dees, Sr. appears a a transportee immigrant mentioned in the will of William Broadribble in 1703 in James City county, Virginia.

Emanuel Dees, Sr. was born in Scotland, he may have reached America as a sailor, or as an emigrant, but probably more directly from Scotland, although it could have veen through Ireland. I have no information about his wife and mother of the his children. It is not known whether she emigrated with him or whether she was in the colonies when he arrived. All of the senior Dees children were given English or English colonial names.

The senior Dees, eldest son , Emanuel, was born in James City county, about 1705. At this writing, it is not known where the rest of the senior Emanuel Dees children were born. It is not known whether Emanuel Dees, Sr settled in James City County and later in life resided in the Isle of Wight County where he died, or whether he was out in James city temporarily, with an eventual permanent settlement in Isle of Wight County, Virginia.

The Isle of Wight is located in Isle of Wight county, Va. and is about 30 miles due west of Norfolk, Virginia. Norfolk is on the Atlantic Ocean at the south end of the Chesapeake Bay. The senior Emanuel Dees may have entered the colonies at Philadelphia and journeyed southward, staying close to the coast. James City County is approximately 30 miles north of the Isle of Wight. Williamsburg, Va is one of the earliest Virginia settlements and it is located in James City County, Va. James City County is located about of 80 miles south of Washington as the crow flies.

Emanuel three sons appeared in Bertie and Edgecombe counties between 1730 and 1744. All three moved to Johnson County, NC about 1745. There may have been also a son named Daniel and another brother named, James, but this is uncertain. A James Dees was granted land in Anson County NC about 1757. No daughters were traced.

Most of the North Carolina owned by the three brothers Emanuel, William and John Dees was located south of the Neuse River in Johnson county, NC. Yet, the original grants of land approximately 100 acres each lay north of the Neuse River in Craven county, NC. Emanuel Dees sold his 100 acres north of the river in 1760. His brother John sold his 120 acres north of the Neuse River in 1765. William Dees probably never sold his original land grant of approximately 100 acres north of the Neuse river. He died and left it to his eldest son, Simon Dees. Simon sold the land in 1765. About 1765, brothers, Simon, John, Richard, Harman and Jacob Dees moved to Craven County, SC
