Emanuel Command Nash was the son of James Nash & Mary (Perkins) Nash. He married 3 times; first to Nancy Simons in 1867, second to Matilda "Tillie" Sweat in 1883, and third to Sena Goins in 1899. He was the father of 21 children:
With Nancy Simons: William (Wid), Charlie, Victoria, Eli, Lud, Emily, and John Edward (Ed)
With Matilda Sweat: Guide, Canaan, Gussie, John, William (Will), and Robert (Rob)
With Sena Goins: Josephine (Josie), Amanda (Mandy), Jeff, Rufus, Louis, Jewel, James, and Lila Mae
Manuel was in Captain Canfield's Company formed in Rapides Parish, Louisiana. “Company I" of Clack's Battalion, later merged with "Cresson's Regiment of Infantry" that became the "Consolidated Crescent Regiment" Co I.
Upon surrender of the command, 26 May 1865, Manuel was paroled at Alexandria, Louisiana. Manuel was discharged 20 June 1865 at Grand Echore, Nachitoches Parish.

Family relates that his actual name was Emanuel Command but went by Manuel or "Man".
