About Emera Altizer, Jr.

Emera Althizer Jr. was the son of Emera Ambrose von Althausen (better known as Emera Althizer, Sr.) and wife Anna Maria Pitzer. He was born c. 1769, in Virginia, as his father was established in that colony. He died in Montgomery County, Virginia and is believed to be buried in the Altizer Family Cemetery, near Chestnut Ridge, Montgomery County, Virginia.

It is believed that Emera Jr. married twice. The first marriage was to Mary Reed in c.1790 in Virginia. The second marriage was to Margaret Griffin Reed. It should be noted that the DAR is requesting substantiation of the two marriages.

The DAR record for Emera Jr., according to member #575433, lists his name as Emery and his date of death as 1871. The date of death is possibly in error, as this would have made him roughly 103 years old. According to DAR member #398208, the date of death 1875.
