Refugee Wife Hopes Mate May Be Freed The holiday season was a little more joyous for a small south-side family because sympathetic Indianapolis opened its heart to a woman who learned her husband was a prisoner of Soviet Russia. Strangers have kppt the phone rinRinj: in the home of Emilie Uuk, 43, 1001 Yoke. They call to tell her they are praying that her husband, Rudolph, may soon be freed to come to America and join her. Mrs. Uuk and her two children, Tony, 16, and Viivi, 13, arrived here in 1949 from a West German refugee camp where they had made their way from Estonia, their homeland.

A few weeks ago Mrs. Uuk, an assembler at. RCA, learned her husband, believed dead for 11 years, had been seen in a Russian slave labor camp in Siberia. The report he was still alive has since been confirmed by a letter from the Estonial Relief agency in West Germany. The agency reports that Rudolph Uuk escaped capture in the 1944 Russian invasion of his homeland and lived in dpnse forests until 1951 .

Then he was captured after being badly wounded. A Germaji professor turned soldier, captured by the Russians and imprisoned with Uuk, brought, back word when released that the former Estonian school principal is still alive. Mrs. Uuk, who never gave up hope that her husband might still be alive, now holds another hope: Freedom for her husband and reunion. Federal Payroll Continues Decline.
