Born in Bacolod, Negros Occidental, on November 1, 1891; the son of Ynocentes Hilado and Cirila Gamboa de Hilado: married to the former Miss Soledad Yulo on October 2, 1915, and has eight children: Ernesto, Emma, Ester, Estrella, Emilio, Enriqueta, Sergio, and Jesus. He graduated from the Negros Occidental High School in 1910, and was one of the first law graduates of the University of the Philippines who obtained the LL.B. degree in 1913, having passed the Bar Examinations the same year.
Atty. Hilado was Auxiliary Justice of the Peace of Bacolod, the capital of Negros Occidental, from 1917 to 1918, and resigned from his office in order to devote his full attention to private law practice and to his agricultural interests.
