- Died on 26 June 1895 at age 76 at Meikleour House, Perthshire, Scotland.
Her married name became Petty-FitzMaurice.
As a result of her marriage, Hon. Emily Jane Mercer-Elphinstone-de Flahault, Lady Nairne was styled as Marchioness of Lansdowne on 31 January 1863. She succeeded to the title of 8th Lady Nairne [S., 1681] on 4 August 1874, suo jure.
On 4 August 1874 she was recognised as Baroness Nairne by the House of Lords.
