In the 1871 Canada Census, hotel keeper Robert D. McKay, 31, born N.B., was living in Wickham, N.B. with Emily Jane, 34; Ida E., 8; Mary S., 5; Emily Jane, 3; and Carry A., 4 months, born November, all born in N.B.

In the 1861 Canada Census, Robert McCoy was head of household in Wickham, N.B. He was the only male living in the house, and there were two females. 100 acres of his land had been improved and 600 acres unimproved. The farm was worth $2,000 and machinery worth $100. He had two horses, seven milch cows, two working oxen and 20 other types of cattle, 20 sheep and four swine.
His father lived next door.
