Emily Hatton Towson was the daughter of General Robert Hopkins Hatton and Sophie Keron Reilly. She was the Assistant State Librarian for several years for the state of Tennessee. She married Reverend Willard E. Towson and had three children. She, her husband, and her mother Sophie Hatton spent many years as Methodist Missionaries in Japan.
