Emma M. Allender, 102, of Mount Pleasant, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, at her home.
Born Oct. 7, 1903, in Wayland, she was the daughter of John and Nellie Bain Schroll. On July 6, 1928, she married Elmer B. Allender in Leon. He preceded her in death.
She helped her husband on the farm, worked at Schaeffer Pen in Fort Madison, then later at Iowa Wesleyan College until she retired at the age of 80.
Survivors include one son, Wesley Allender of Mount Pleasant; four grandchildren; six great–grandchildren and 10 great–great–grandchildren; and one sister, Nelle Vandersnick of Mount Pleasant.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Beatty–Murphy Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services for Mrs. Allender will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Beatty–Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.
