Pvt, Co B, 34th Texas Calvery (Alexander's Tx Calvery) CSA
Enlisted Jun 27th 1862 and discharged after Feb 1864. His widow, Amanda Jane, received a Confederate Widow's Pension from Texas.
After John Wesley Brashears death in 1880, Amanda Jane married Enoch Dawson. He was a neighbor, with children and without a wife, according to the 1880 Census. He was also a charter member of Providence Baptist Church where both attended.
