The McGough Connection with the Brashears

Amanda Jane Burch was living in the Thomas McGough household in the 1860 because she feared her stepmother. The 1860 Parker County Census (p 68, Newburg Post Office) list the family.

McGough Family Cemetery – Perlina (Burch) McGough was a sister of Amanda Jane and died Feb 1, 1874. W.C. married Mollie Westbrook after her death. Perlina and her father-in-law, Thomas are buried in the McGough Family cemetery on their homestead. The cemetery has been destroyed by a recent owner who used a bulldozer to build a terrace across the cemetery. The graves and stones were buried or destroyed. Unfortunately, disrespect for family cemeteries is not unusual, I have found other cemeteries that have been destroyed by farm animals and/or machinery. The cemeteries were never deeded as public property. They were still a part of the farm and some people do not respect them. They find them an obstacle to their farming and plow over the grave sites after removing and burying the stones.
