History of Morton Family,including the Weese family by Edward Enos Morton- p140s After his marriage to Catherine he resided on Big Beaver Creek where he had employment with Fielding McClung who was farming. In 1843 he purchased 1,000 acres of land on Lost Run and laurel Creek at a tax sale. The deed was executed in 1843. He proceeded to become a prosperousfarmer and stockman of the community.
The site of his home was about 1/4 mile from the junction of the Muddlety and the main Beaver Rd going toward Tioga, on the right side of the road near a tiny stream. The local name of the community is now Delphi.
Fought on the side of the Confederacy in the Civil War. Served his district as Justice of the Peace. Was recorded as an official member who answered Roll Call at a quarterly conference of the Methodist Church in 1874.
