MILT: Ensign in Capt. Davidson's Regimenmt of Continental Troops of NC. Wounded 6 Aug. 1780 in the attack on the British at Hanging Rock, a short distance from his home.
David was probably born in Hanover Co., VA, but records have been burned, thus this relationship has not been proved. His parents moved to SC.
1772 David was on the tax records of Surry Co., NC, on the headwaters of Pee Dee River. Surry had been formed in 1770 from Rowan Co., NC. It was joining that part of VA where David's brother William had purchased land in 1772.
David had a 200 acre land grant on the north Fork of the Pee Dee River, recorded 3 Apr 1780. 23 Aug 1783, he sold the land grant.
Census show that his son John lived in the same area.
1790 All the Crawfords had left Surry Co.

Colonel Martin certified that Mr. David Crawford has acted as Ensign in Captain Davidson's Company, in the First Regiment of Continental Troops in this Province, from the 1st day of February last until this date.
Resolved, That the Paymaster pay the wages due to the said David Crawford, from the time of his acting as Ensign to the said Company.
Resolved, That Mr. David Crawford be appointed Ensign in Captain Davidson's Company in the First Regiment of Continental Troops in this Province.

LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF DAVID CRAWFORD: Washington County, Tennessee Will Book--07 October 1787
In the name of God Amen, I David CRAWFORD saved through the abundant mercy and goodness of God though weak in body yet of a sound and perfect understanding and memory do constitute this my Last Will and Testament and desire it may be received by all as such. Impromis I give and bequeath my body unto the earth from whence it was taken in full assurance of its resurection at the last day. For my burial I desire it may be at the descretion of the Executors hereafter named.
I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sary EVENS five shillings lawful money of the State of North Carolina. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary RIGGS five shillings in the like money. I give and bequeath unto my son John CRAWFORD ten shillings of the like money. I give unto my beloved wife for tarme of life the house and land likewise my goods and chattell and do make and leave her one of my Executors and Reuben RIGGS the other of my Executors. After my wifes decease I give unto my son William CRAWFORD I give devise and bequeath him and his heirs all and every of my land and tenaments whatsoever in Witness whereof I set my hand and Seal this 7th of October 1787.
