..May have been referred to as 'Esquire' which probably was a title rather than name.
BUR: Upper Indiana Cemetery 2 1/2 miles Northeast of Vincennes IN.
He warranted 360 1/2 acres of land called "Elizabeth" in Washington/Greene Co. PA area on 26MAY1765. He surveyed this land in 1794 and patented the land on 27OCT1801 to Wm. S. & Margaret E. CARMICHEAL(Horn Papers p.46:170). He was listed as a 'distiller' in the 1798 Greene Co. PA Tax rolls and is also known to have owned a 'Grist Mill' on Muddy Creek in Cumberland Twp., Greene Co. PA. Flour ground in his Grist Mill was shipped to Spanish controlled New Orleans down the Ohio and Mississippi thru Indian Country in casks on keel boats.
During the Revolutionary War, he served in the 8th PA Regiment of the Continental Line and was an ensign in Crawford's Militia Company.
He married .c1780 New Castle, DE Rebecca GREGG(1758DE-1822IN d/o John & Susannah ).
He died 01NOV1820 in Knox Co. IN.
