John Rockwell called Ensign John Rockwell born probably at Norwalk April 1706, married Sept 3 1731 first ELIZABETH KEELER born Nov 18 1708, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Whitney Keeler. The record is that Sept 23 1743 Joseph Keeler deeded land to said John Rockwell for and in consideration of "Yt Love and Goodwill and fatherly affection which I have and do bear to my son in Law JOHN ROCKWELL of Ridgefield" Said John Rockwell was one of the eighteen constituent members of the Congregational Church of Ridgebury Society which was the second church of Ridgefield, organized Jan 18 1769, and he and Jabish Smith were the first deacons chosen March 8 1770 at which election he was called Ensign John Rockwell. He married second at Ridgefield Nov 22 1769 Esther Hollebert and lived and died at Ridgebury, where his farm lay adjoining the colony line. He died July 4 1773. She survived him and after his death disposed of her dower to his sons John and Elijah of Lanesborough Mass and David and Abraham Rockwell both of Ridgebury June 31 1774.
John was born in Norwalk and died in Ridgebury in 1731.
