About Epaminontas Frangoudis
Born in Cyprus and studied at the Ionian Academy in Corfu. He returned to Cyprus as secretary to the Greek Vice Consul in Larnaca. He attended the Hellenic School (1848-1854), whereupon the breakout of the Crimean War (1854), he prepared, printed and distributed secretly patriotic leaflets in Cyprus which encouraged the Greeks to rise against the Ottomans. He was foreced to leave Cyprus at the recommendation of Archbishop Kyrillos I. He settled in Constantinople and distributed the magazine "Thelxinoi" (1856-1857). He went to Bucharest on behlaf of the Greek government and became a teacher in the high schools and Universitiy. He became the transaltor for the Foreign Ministry, as well as the tutor to the King of Romania at the Hellenic School of Bucharest. Writer. He worked with newspapers, "Amaltheia" and "Efimeris" in Smyrna. He wrote poetry and was published in the media of the time. (Biographical Dictinary of Cypriots 1800-1920)
