1810 U.S. Census shows Ephraim, Sr. living in Livingston Co., KY. Included in household are: one male age 45+, one female age 26-45, one female 45+. Born near Belfast, Antrim Co., No. Ireland (son of David Hill, by 2nd wife). James, Ephriam's half-brother by David's 1st wife, and Ephriam came to America about 1740. Ephriam follwed sea-faring life until middle-age, then married Ann Holiday and settled in Iredell Co., NC. Afterwards moved to York Co., SC, then Livingston Co., KY. Settled 400 A. of land in Livingston Co., KY (now Crittenden) in 1806. Rec'd deed to it in 1811 from Charles Scott, Gov. of Kentucky, and Jesse Bledsoe, Secy. of State. Ephraim Hill, Sr. in addition to what he already holds claim, 200 acres on Crooked Creek adj. Ephraim Hill, Jr.'s corner next to George Mays, David Hill, George Elder, and Mary Elder. (Compiler's note: Spartanburg Co., SC Deed Book K, pg. 162, 3 Oct. 1803 shows that Ephraim Hill of Livingston Co., KY appointed Robin Rogers of Spartanburg his attorney to sell two tracts of land in Spartanburg. Wit: Wm. Prince, Enoch Prince, Anthony Mayes. Rec. 10 Oct. 1805.) On 18 Dec.1810 David Hill appointed as administrator of the estate of Ephraim. Also on pg. 232, David was appointed administrator of estate of Robert Hill, 17 Jan.1814. (Livingston Co. Court Order, Book E, pg. 348) At Sept. 1816 term of Livingston Circuit Court in a suit in chancery between heirs of Ephraim Hill, Sr., dec'd, (complainants) and heirs of Robert Hill and Ephraim Hill, Jr., dec'd, (defendants), William Henry and Thomas Elder were appointed commissioners to sell lands of Ephraim Hill, Sr., to highest bidder and having returned to March 1817 term of court that they sold sd. lands to James Elder for $332.75. Land includes 200 acres on Crooked Creek granted Ephraim Hill by Commonwealth of Kentucky, 21 Sept. 1807. Signed: William Henry, Thomas Elder. Rec. Feb. 1818. (Abstract from Livingston Co., KY, Deed Book D, pg. 2, 15 Sep 1817) At Sept. 1816 term of Livingston Circuit Court William Henry and Thomas Elder appointed commissioners to sell lands of Ephraim Hill, Sr., dec'd, as a result of a suit in chancery between heirs of Ephraim Hill, Sr. (complainants) and heirs of Robert Hill and Ephraim Hill, Jr. (defendants). Robert Woodside, as highest bidder, bought sd. lands consisting of 200 acres on Crooked Creek, granted by Commonwealth of Kentucky to Hill, Sr. 13 Feb. 1809, adj.
