Ephraim Melville, Min. of Pittenweem

Biographical Summary

Ephraim Melville, born Newcastle, 15th Jan. 1585, eldest son of James M., min. of Kilrenny ; educated at Univ. of St Andrews; M.A. (1603); was on the Exercise there 26th Sept. 1605 ; adm. to Newburn after 4th Sept 1611 ; trans, and adm. between 30th April and 7th Oct. 1617; died before 2nd July 1629. He marr. Sarah Smyth, who survived him, and had issue — Ephraim, min. of Queensferry.
