The following paragaph taken from the "West Virginia Heritage Encyclopedia"
supplemental Vol 7, pages 121-122
"Empraim and Anna (Mullins) Pauley lived in Kanawha County before the organization of Lincoln County. Empraim came from Franklin Count, Virginia to Charleston, Kanawha County before the War of 1812, in which he volunteered to serve, but peace came before he went to the field. He was married in 1817 and 1823 bulit the first mill on Fuquas Creek, it have been a tub-whell mill. Here he rasied a large family and died at a good old age."
