Erika Gruenzweig

Erika Silber was born in Austria on February 12, 1929, the daughter of Margarete "Grete" and Asriel "Sigmund" Silber. Her sister Gertrude "Trude" Silber was born on January 18, 1931. The parents were able to flee from the National Socialists to Palestine and both daughters were able to flee to Sweden with one of the last "Kindertransports" in 1939 (or at the end of 1938). Her parents had no opportunity to contact their daughters until the end of the war, that is for six or seven years. Erika stayed in Israel and was married there (Gruenzweig). She is now deceased. Trude, married Tepperberg, and died in New Jersey in 2019.
