Ernest W. Kunz Malta Ernest W. Kunz, 102, was home when he went to be with the Lord on January 29, 2015, with his wife, Marian, by his side. Born in West Hoboken, NJ on November 5, 1912, he was the son of Ernest and May Kunz, and grew up in Maywood, NJ. He graduated from Stevens Tech and worked at GE KAPL during World War II in the armament section designing and fabricating gun turrets for the B17, B24, B36 and Navy torpedo planes. After the war he worked in the Guided Missile Department designing and manufacturing Hermes missiles and continued to work at GE KAPL until his retirement as plant supervisor in 1975. Ernie was a charter member and chairman of the Town of Malta Planning Board, charter member of the Malta Ridge Volunteer Fire Department, Clerk of the Works for the new Malta Town garage and Malta's first town hall. He was commissioner representative for Malta on the Saratoga Sewer District at its inception. As a hobby he enjoyed working on the mechanics of cars and ran a used car business for 52 years. Growing up, he summered in the Adirondacks at his parent's camp and still enjoyed the Adirondacks throughout his entire life. He was predeceased by his parents; and his sister, May Buchan. Ernie is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marian C. Kunz; children, Kathy Nielsen of Texas, Gina Kunz (Richard Ruman) of Florida, Curt Kunz (Melissa Cornthwaite), Sandra Kunz and Jamie Kunz-Butler (Jeff Butler) all of Malta; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
