Ernest O. Pates

A funeral service for Ernest Oran Pates, 93, who died Wednesday at the Fredericksburg Nursing Home whee he had lived for the past five years, will be held Saturday at Salem Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Reverend Kelly Lane will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Bernard Kube, John R. Orrock, Carl S. Pates Jr., Richard D. Pates, James N. Pates and Wilbur Weedon.

Mr. Pates, a lifelong resident of Spotsylvania County was a retired farmer, dairyman and sawmill operator. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church for 80 years, where he served as a deacon and member of the board of trustees for many years and as superintendent of Sunday School for 28 years.

He is survived by two sons, Carl S. Pates and James Scott Pates, both of Fredericksburg.
