Ernest Peder Egeland, age 90, of Fisher, MN, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016 at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, ND.

Ernest was born in Grand Forks, ND on December 23, 1925 to the late Minuel and Ragnhild (Anderson) Egeland. He grew up in the Bygland, MN area and attended Rural School #222 in Bygland. Afterwards, he graduated from the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, MN. He was married on June 7, 1947 to Norma Knutson at Bygland Lutheran Church. The family then made their home on the Homestead Farm which was a Minnesota Century Farm. He farmed his entire life in the Bygland area until his retirement in 1990 and he was then able to start his hobby of raising horses. During his life he served on the Bygland Township Board, the Bygland Lutheran Church Council, the Fisher School Board, and the Valley Memorial Homes Board.

Ernest is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Norma Egeland of East Grand Forks, MN; children, Carol Frykman of New Prague, MN; Paul (Stephanie) Egeland of Fisher, MN; and Mark (Carol) Egeland of Fisher, MN; 9 grandchildren, Eric (Becky) Egeland, Jami Egeland, Sarah (John) Olek, Sally (Eric) Swenson, Jon (Alicia) Frykman, Paul (Angie) Frykman, Alicia (Ross) Van Eps, Meredith Egeland, and Grant Egeland; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois Nystul of Minnetonka, MN; and Esther Mae (Lloyd) Doble of Grand Forks, ND; and brother, John (Ann) Egeland of Bemidji, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Minuel and Ragnhild Egeland; brother, Martin Egeland; sister, Alice Griffith; son-in-law, Rick Frykman; and grandsons, David Egeland and Brian Frykman.
