About Ernest Armine Wodehouse
In 1911, E A Wodehouse came to India as a professor of English at the Central Hindu College, Varanasi, now the Banaras Hindu University.
When the first World War broke out, he joined the Scots Guards.
In May 1918, he was severely wounded and became an invalid. He then returned to the The Herald of the Star as its editor. In 1924, he joined the Indian Education Service. Except for a brief term at Elphinstone college, he spent nearly 10 years as a professor of English at Deccan College, Pune, acting on two occasions as its principal.
