About Erwin Aloysius Meyer
Services for Erwin A. Meyer, age 80, of Meire Grove, who died Saturday, July 10 at the St. Cloud Hospital, were
held Tuesday, July 13 at St. John's Catholic Church in Meire Grove.
Rev. Ken Popp officiated, with burial following in the parish cemetery.
Erwin Meyer was born Dec. 30, 1918 in Meire Grove, to Clemens and Mary (Imdieke) Meyer. He was united in

marriage to Verona Primus on June 30, 1941 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. He worked as a
sandblaster for Empire Memorials of Melrose for 32 years, retiring in 1984. He then worked at DB's Bar and Grill
in Meire Grove for about 10 years. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. Erwin was also a member of
the St. Joseph's Mens Society, the St. John's Choir, the Green Grove Rod and Gun Club and the Meire Grove
Athletic Club. He played the tuba for the Melrose Clown Band and the Meire Grove City Band. He enjoyed
hunting, fishing, singing, gardening and woodworking.
Mr. Meyer is survived by his wife Verona Meyer of Meire Grove; children: Dennis Meyer and his wife, Lola, of
Chaska; Alain Kolb and her husband, Tom, of Milaca; Merle Meyer and his wife, Marilyn, of Danbury, Wis.;
Terry Meyer and his wife, Jan, of Circle Pines; Chuck Meyer and his wife, Donna, of Weatherford, Texas; Joyce
Schwinghammer and her husband, Dave, of Belgrade; Deb Klaphake and her husband, Rick, of Melrose; siblings:
Bertha Vornbrock, of Meire Grove; 25 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Joseph, daughter, Marie, brothers: John, Al, Eddie, Martin and
Norbert Meyer, sisters: Alvina Herges, Emily Vornbrock and Clara Worms, grandchildren: David and Jenny
Schwinghammer and great-grandchildren: Danielle Meyer, Jaqueline Thull and Cory Helmin.
Casket bearers were Dennis Meyer, Jr., Jeff Kolb, Doug and Jim Meyer, Davis Schwinghammer and Pete
Klaphake.
Cross bearer was Cyndi Eckart. Scripture bearer was Karen Klaphake.
Honorary bearers were members of the St. Joseph's Mens Society, Jack Vornbrock, Mary Ann (Meyer) Wenker,
Eddie Meyer, Karen Burns, Arlene Primus and Nancy Roden.
