About Esther Hoch Bleam

Alt. Spelling: Bleam; Bliehm

Contributor: Shelly K.T. (47971769), Esther was born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, the daughter Abraham Bechtel and Mary Hoch Bechtel. In 1787, she married Daniel Cressman (son of Nicholaus Cressman). They had three children: Elizabeth (married Abraham Weber); Abraham (married Mary Schneider); Mary (married Henry Wismer).
Her husband, Daniel, died in a tragic wagon accident in 1795 in Pennsylvania.
In 1804, Esther married Philip Bliehm, son of Christian Bliehm and Salome Longenecker. He was 14 years her junior. In 1806, after the birth of their son, John Bliehm (married Mary Strohm), the family uprooted from Pennsylvania and moved to Waterloo, Ontario, Canada via Conestoga wagon with a large group of extended family.
In Waterloo, Philip became a successful miller, and they had three more children: Christian (married Mary Campbell), Esther (married John Stoeckle) and Jacob (married Elizabeth Scheirich).
