Family of William FOULK (1) & Elizabeth COPE:

2. Stephen FOULK. Born abt 1704 / 1713 in Bethel Twp, Chester Co, PA.[1],[2]ñ. Stephen died between Feb 5th 1786, when he wrote his will, and Aug 16th 1787 when it was probated in Chester County, Pennsylvania. [5],[2]

Stephen Foulk appears on a list [dated 26 Dec 1737] of subscribers giving a subscription of one pound for "improving the shambles in High street in Willing Town." [ Now Wilmington, DE][6]

Stephen married Esther WILLIS, daughter of John WILLIS & Esther PYLE [sic: Brinton] on 23 Aug 1723 in Chester, Butler, Pennsylvania.

Born abt 1703 / 1715 in New Castel Co, DE.[1],[2] Esther died died before 1786 as she is not named in the Will of her husband Stephen Foulke.

They had the following children:

  1. Priscilla. Born ? . (1724-1786) Priscilla died bef 5 Feb 1786.[5] Mentioned in father Stephen Foulke's will as deceased.[5]. Married 1) John Cessna 2) Abraham Elliott, Sr.
  2. Esther/Hester. Born ? (1726-1787) Esther/Hester died on 6 Nov 1821.[8] Death date noted in estate papers of her brother, John Foulk's will. Mentioned in father Stephen Foulke's will as Esther Keepers, widow.[5] Also mentioned in brother John Foulk's will.[8] Esther/Hester married William Keepers.
  3. Susanna. (1730-1822);Mentioned in father Stephen Foulke's will as daughter Susanna Ward.[5]. Susannah Foulke Ward's death record of 17 April 1822 appears in Cane Creek Monthly Meeting, Chatham County, North Carolina Birth and Death Records. Married William Ward
  4. Stephen. Born on 15 Oct 1732 in Bethel Twp, Chester Co, PA.[7] Stephen died ? . (1800?) Mentioned in father Stephen Foulke's will.[5]. No known wife / children.
  5. John (1735-1820). Married Sarah Talley.
  6. Eneas (1740-1775). Married Mary Guest.

  • To daughter Esther Keepers all household goods.
  • To grandson Eneas Foulke, son of my son Eneas 50 pounds, etc., and to each of his brothers and sisters 1 shilling.
  • To daughter Esther 12 pounds per annum while she remains a widow.
  • To each of the children of my daughter Priscilla, deceased, 1 shilling.
  • To daughter Susanna Ward 50 pounds.
  • To son John 7/6.
  • All remainder real and personal to my son Stephen.
  • Executors: Son Stephen Foulke,
  • Friends Isaac Pyle and Nathaniel Newlin.
  • Letters to Foulke and Pyle, the other being absent. Witnesses: Robert Pyle, Jr., Mary Pyle.[5]
